You could wear two thinner garments rather than one thicker one, and peel one off as you pick up the pace and start to get too warm. On top of these layers, you need a shell layer – the waterproof winter coat or jacket and trousers.  Finally of course, you’ll need walking boots and maybe even climbing shoes if you’re planning to really get up high.
